Club History

Offley & Stopsley Cricket club were formed in March 1998 as a result of the merger of Offley Cricket Club and Stopsley Cricket Club.

At the time of the merger Offley were very short on players, while Stopsley had no ground to call their own since the arson of their Pavillion in 1991. (Click for further details of this painfull memory)

It was felt at the time that allthough Stopsley were in a very healthy state, they could never move forward. Therefore the merger of the two clubs was proposed and agreed upon.

The merger has been a great success. The village of Offley has greatly appreciated the re-appearance of regular weekend cricket, while the club itself has expanded it's playing abilities to running two teams most weekends.

In future we shall be running organised coaching for local children with qualified MCC coaches, all with a view to keeping the game of Cricket alive and well in our corner of Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire.
