Chris Latino

Chris Latino: One of the new breed of Offley cricketers, Latino arrived at the club on the recommendation of Matthew Freeman. Off the pitch the pair are inseparable, often rocketing off into the countryside on their mopeds and getting hopelessly lost. Latino’s most impressive attribute is a lack of fear for the ball. During the winter nets he demonstrated a dogged approach to stopping full-blooded drives with his ankles (often while his friend and sponsor Freeman was absent in the toilet heaving up his dinner).

On the pitch Latino has proved to be a committed fielder, throwing himself around in a bid to halt boundaries and never allowing his head to drop. After a bright start with the bat his form fell away disappointingly as he demonstrated an unfortunate habit of getting stumped on a regular basis – often before having the chance to trouble the scorers. He unveiled his skill as a bowler on the summer tour where he struck three times in his first over for the club – and had another wicket chalked off by a no ball call – and has some potential as a partnership-breaker, albeit a potentially costly one.
