Adam Ward: Debut 2010

Australia had the Waughs. England had the Hollioakes. Pakistan had the Akmals. Ireland had the O’Briens. Offley & Stopsley have the Wards.

Spinner Adam Ward has followed his brother Marc into the Offley team and looks to have a highly promising future. A graduate of Darren Lunney’s Colts set-up, Ward made his debut in 2008 and has now become a regular in the line-up at weekends. Unlike other ginger slow bowlers at Offley, Ward is able to put genuine spin on the ball and is not reliant on hitting a crack to exact turn from the pitch. He has already embarrassed a number of experienced batsmen with his flight and guile and the Hertfordshire youngster has every chance to establish himself as the lynchpin of the Offley attack.

An excellent footballer, Ward has quickly established himself as one of the more reliable fielders in the Offley team and combines a good turn of speed with a safe pair of hands and strong arm.

Although his batting remains a work in progress he has already established himself as the member of his family least likely to get out to a stupid shot in a crucial situation.
