Offley Stopsley CC Vs Frogmore

Match Abandoned due to Rain. Drawn

For the second week running torrential rain came as a result was imminent. This time however Offley Stopsley were left to rue the weather gods rather than thank them.

Stephen Bexfield won the toss on a very very overcast and cloudy afternoon. After some discussion with the team and some disagreement from the batsmen he decided to bat. With rain likely he gambled on the bowlers getting quick wickets and forcing a result before the weather closed in.

The initial 10 overs didn't suggest this would happen. Colin Keeley tore a groin muscle after only bowling 5 overs while at the other end Nathan Brodie and Mathew Freeman found the underfoot conditions difficult from the start.

A couple of sharp run outds from the arm of Nathan Brodie took care of the openers and kept Offley Stopsley in the game. Gary Mathewson and Daniel Jordan then came together to forge an impressive partnership. Jordon bowled with pace and control to keep the batsmen in check while Mathewson teased and prodded them into loose shots to finish with 5 wickets. Jordan eventually closed the innings with an impressive tally of 13 overs, 1 maiden 3 wickets for 23 runs.

With a target of 138 to chase Bexfield and Barker got down to business knowing that the weather was an additional enemy. At 55-0 everyone lost out to the rain and the match was abandoned.
