Old Albanian III Vs Offley Stopsley CC
OSCC Won by 8 Wkts
This match is somewhat of a mystery. It is clear from the result that OSCC remain top of the division after beating Old Albanian III's by 8 wkts. However your usual reporters of all things OSCC were at Trent Bridge watching the mighty Leicstershire Foxes beat allcomers in the Twenty20 Finals.
All that can be said of this match is that some bloke batting for the opposition (who batted first) managed to bat the entire 53 overs for only 17 runs. They were bowled out for 116 and that Offley & Stopsley knocked of the runs in 20 overs and won.
17 runs, 'say that again', 17 runs in 50 odd overs of batting. This must have been either a heroic stand off between a battered and bruised batsmen and tigerish, bully bowlers on top of their game. Or a dreary, mind crawlingly dull and obstinate encounter with Chris Tavare's unnoticed uncle.
Thats 318 available deliveries, lets say this guy had faced only half of them we can see that he would have faced approx 150 balls. Therefore at best there would have been at least 133 dot balls. Thats alot of nothing. To demonstrate further we can say that;
F=balls faced, D=dot balls, R=runs
The average spectator would prefer to watch an innings where the ratio is F-D<=R.
This is ambitious, it is more normal to see the following ratio; R=(F-D)/3.
Where the ratio is R=(F-D)/10 you can say you've had a boring afternoon.
