2008 OFFICIAL PLAYER & ALUMNI THEME TUNES

In accordance with all other professionally run cricket clubs, Offley & Stopsley have elected to choose a piece of music to accompany each player as he walks out to bat during the 2008 season.

In the case of some players there’s a good chance that the strains of the music will still be echoing around the ground as the batsman makes his traditionally swift return to the pavilion. (No offence, Wayney.)

Actually that’s not quite true; the club hasn’t made such a momentous decision (in the light of the decision to splash out on a sightscreen the remaining music budget means we could barely afford to cobble together enough money to buy a couple of CDs from the bargain bin at the local petrol station let alone install a state of the art sound system).

Each selection here is designed to cause as much offense (for the individual concerned) and as much merriment (for everyone else) as possible so try not to take it too seriously.

Indeed players are encouraged to regard the process as an exercise in self-assessment. Try and look beyond the sarcasm and implied shortcomings for a moment and consider why this particular piece of music has been chosen. Failing that sit back, pop open a cold one and close your eyes and imagine the Offley Cricket Ground reverberating to the strains of Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You as Chris Austin plucks up his bat and strides out to the middle to take on all comers.
